Singing along to The Little Mermaid’s alluring vocals was the day 3 year old Maliyah’s parents knew there was talent in their little girl. Having been born in St. Catharines, ON and moving to Calgary, AB was a time of new changes for Maliyah and her parents. Her childhood had been lived through a quaint and friendly community in the NE where she attended an elementary art school. By being immersed in the arts, she was unknowingly honing all aspects of artistry by being given the space and resources for creativity. Emerging into her teens, Maliyah attended IMTA—a talent and modelling competition in New York City at the age of 15. Connecting with professionals and attending seminars immensely grew her love for the Entertainment Industry. Her realization of the fierce competition amongst other aspiring entertainers didn’t scare her away, rather it motivated and changed her perspective. Over the course of the year, she committed long hours to develop herself, auditioning for roles, performing in local cafés and signing up for competitions within Canada. In March of 2018, Maliyah was crowned Miss Teenage Alberta. During her reign as the Provincial titleholder, she dedicated her time volunteering for the betterment of the city, attended public appearances in festival parades, took part in the making of a Calgary Stampede video, attended cultural practices in Buddhist temples and organized a Lao food stand—regarding her platform of raising awareness to her ethnic culture and country Laos. By the end of summer 2018, she placed top 30 in Supermodel Canada and competed in Nationals for Miss Teenage Canada. Not only is she a highly-motivated individual, but she also enjoys the simplicities that life offers; hiking in the Rockies, reading thought-provoking books, and spending valuable time with her mother. Although Maliyah’s work requires intense focus and hard work, she always manages to show a part of herself that is quite giddy. The joys of her ability to express herself sets free her passion for singing and her inner soul that desires for a life full of inspiration.
Chiara Petersen has held the title of both Junior Miss Calgary for 2018 and Little Miss Calgary for 2015. Her passion lies in the performing arts, also represented by Patti Falconer agencies and an actress with Faces of Wendy. In addition to this Chiara also loves to sing, rock climb and ski and one of the main reasons why she has been drawn to pageants is because of the social and public speaking opportunities. Chiara loves being around people and helping out in her community and her charity of choice is the Heart and Stroke Foundation because of her personal connection to the cause. Loving to travel, she also has a soft spot for the culture of Latin America and has been learning Spanish as her second language of choice for nine years. Really, she is just like any other teenage girl who loves to hang out with her friends and spend her time on social media, just with a drive to achieve her dreams of doing the things she loves.
