My time competing for Miss Universe Canada and something that I will carry forward throughout my life is the importance of empowering women as well as Canadian Enterprise, I am honoured to be working alongside
The Alexander Collection by Daymor!
I had the opportunity to ask Alexander Taksev a few questions that I personally wanted to know after doing my due diligence of research on the brand before reaching out at all.
What I love about The Alexander Collection is the value that they place of the strength of women, even though they still can embrace their natural softness and femininity.

The Alexander Collection
Alexander Taksev joined Daymor in 2001 as the company’s womenswear designer. Director of Design since 2012, in 2018 he was appointed company Vice President, responsible for all design, corporate image & advertising.
With his highly anticipated first collection debuting in Spring 2019, 'Alexander by Daymor' will continue to build on the company’s rich history and tradition by introducing collections that embody the spirit of classic elegance and refinement.
Established in 1951 by Max Schwartz, an entrepreneur with a great vision and creative power, Daymor has long been considered an industry leader in the Special Occasion/ Eveningwear category.
Well known for combining classic elegance with quality craftsmanship, over a span of 68 years the company has made its mark delivering refined women swear and providing unrivaled customer care to all of its retailers and clientele throughout the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
In the 50s and 60s, Daymor was showcased at some of the most iconic Montreal department stores of the time including Simons, Laliberté, Paquet et Pollack. More recent venues included New York-based stores Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Over its long-standing history, the company has had memorable divisions and employed remarkable design talents including Elvia Gobbo and Tom D'Auria who designed 'LUV & The Factory' as well as Karen Perry, Michelin Boucher, Lorraine Beauchamp (namesake collections 1978 – 1989) & Catherine Mercedes Ferreira (1990 – 2001). 'Caroma' and 'Modasport' were two notable Daymor divisions operating in the 80’s & 90’s.
Since 2001, Daymor Couture has been designed by Alexander Taksev. His designs have achieved commercial success and continue to be featured by numerous prominent Canadian and American celebrities, influential philanthropists & businesswomen. In 2017, his work was showcased in the 'Pignon sur rue à Montréal' exhibition at the Montreal Fashion Museum (now part of the McCord Museum).
The company has been successful for over 68 years, was there a point in time that was a great hardship that caused a moment of change within?
Throughout its long standing history the company has always evolved with the ever changing market needs which is how it’s been able to always provide relevant, on-point product that has contributed to its success for nearing 7 decades now.
Personally, I love the simplicity of the designs of each piece, although they are extremely intricate. Is there a piece that is iconic or a favourite look that was worn on a red carpet or for an event by Alexander by Daymor?
It would be difficult to choose just one but a more recent memorable red carpet moment would be at this years Cannes Film Festival: a black & white sculptural dress from my Spring 2020 collection worn by the super talented & beautiful Lara Fabian!
What do you love most about the Quebec location of your company that Canada may not realize?
How easy it is to be inspired by this Canadian gem of a city with all of its beautiful neighbourhoods ranging from the cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal to the bohemian Plateau, its countless festivals, art galleries, museums ,restaurants – all coming together for a true joie de vivre perfection!
What do you think the future will look like for Alexander by Daymor?
It is an honour to continue the legacy of this amazing company and I very much feel privileged to be doing something I truly love & enjoy doing while at the same time contributing to women feeling & looking their most beautiful!
