MISS UNIVERSE PRELIMINARIES 2018 REVIEW

How do we even start about this year's MISS UNIVERSE COMPETITION! I have heard from people that year's batch of competition has been one of the strongest. Did I mention, or have you seen that it is in Thailand- the land of smiles!

I have personally always been curious about Thailand and its culture, also knowing that our MISS UNIVERSE 2005, Natalie Glebova was crowned- fell in love with the people and now lives in Thailand.

This is not about who I think could win, or who deserves to win, but rather my personal opinion on which amazing ladies stood out to me for different reasons most likely. There will always be countries that are known as 'sash countries,' countries that are considered pageant powerhouses whos sashes are easily recognizable due to the level of the delegates that they produce, but this, as I said is my personal opinion who has simply stood out to me during their performance on stage during the preliminary competition.

STANDOUT SWIM MOMENTS

What can I say? Swimsuit.
That really does sum a lot of assumptions up about this portion of the preliminary competition. With recently women's rights movements, such as ME TOO, and comments via Victoria's Secret models about what they look for in the concept of 'fantasy' I do not think the MISS UNIVERSE Swimsuit Competition could have been timed any better.

Swimsuit in my mind has always been about embracing your body and loving all of you. Yes, there are things that every person wishes they could change, but embrace you and be confident. Did you ever happen to think that these women pride themselves on being role models for healthy lifestyles, making balanced choices of doing yoga, running marathons, boxing, swimming, being nationally ranked athletes and indulging in cake, pasta, pizza, or whatever they want? Everything in moderation, that includes fitness too.

The MISS UNIVERSE delegates this year I was highly impressed with how they have embraced themselves. Seeing different looks, different body types, but all confidence in who they are.

EXQUISITE ELEGANCE

Evening gown has always been one of my favourite portion of the competition, I am sure you have heard this before, but it is what it allows the women to allow the audience to share their sense of style at this point. Also if you are able to captivate an audience's attention walking in +6inch heels, in an exquisite gown, hoping not to fall- that is the goal in my mind while embracing every second of it.

To be completely upfront and honest, four of my favourite walks go to VIETNAM, KENYA BELGIUM & CURACAO. Something about their elegance and the way that they connected with the audience through their self-confidence really captivated me.

THESE PHOTOS DO NOT BELONG TO ME. THANK YOU TO BONG TAN/MISSOSOLOGY.ORG FOR CAPTURING THESE MEMORABLE MOMENTS.
